September 25, 2009 meeting

Homecoming Parade

• Meet at media arts building 10am
• Line up is at OLOS Church/Courthouse (by police station) 12pm (noon)
• Parade starts at 2pm
  
• we have gathered the props, truck and trailor
• decorations gathered are white streamers and balloons also purple & white ribbon and flowers.

Out of the Ashes

• Have names of a few of you willing to help Nellie. I will contact her and give you more information. Thanks everyone for job well done so far!

Upcoming trips

• In Town Trip: Arts21 (PBS) is having a show Thursday October 1, 2009 at 6pm in the Ilfield auditorium! Those who can make it please attend. This could be very educational and great opportunity for all arts majors!
• Out of Town Trip: Site Santa Fe Public opening October 9, 2009 from 5 - 7pm. We will be attending the opening (as weather permits). The exhibit is Talking Pictures I believe is a video based project!

• Idea for float - Reenact Film Crew shooting a scene: props & decorations
  
• Props needed are camera, tripod, directors chair, slate and mega phone.
  
• Decorations needed are streamer, balloons, ribbons, flowers and make-up.
• equipment needed is truck and trailor

Halloween

• enter door/building decoration contest - idea is haunted house
• Pumpkin carving contest for community
• idea to have Art opening reflecting Halloween

Light Parade

• register for light parade - come up with ideas for the float

• Sign up to help with posters, flyers and filming of the event

Trips & Fundraisers

• Think of educational trips
• Think of fun trip that everyone will enjoy!
• Ideas for fundraising - raffle - ideas for prizes

Recycling

• Don't forget to recycle your plastic, aluminum and paper in the recycle bins!
• The commercial - We will begin sketches on storyboards for Ben's recycling project!
• Please sign up for a part in production of the commercial!

- First on the agenda at the meeting was the voting for Fall 09 officers. Congratulations to the following selections:

Club Advisor - Kerry Loewen
President - Virginia Marrujo
Vice President - Veronica Black
Secretary - Cabrini Martinez
Pulicist - Becca Glen

- I would also like to welcome all our new members! We have started with a great group and hope to increase our numbers. Thank you for taking the time to attend meetings. We are starting with a clean slate and are open to ideas for the clubs 09/10 school year.

- Normally we meet twice a month but due to increase in participation the club has agreed to participate in the homecoming parade. So we will be meeting Friday September 11, 2009 at 1p.m. Please bring any suggestions to the next meeting or if you are unable attend the meeting give them to one of the officers or Kerry and we will present them.

- During homecoming week their are a number of events being held and we strongly suggest you take a look at them on the NMHU's campus calendar. The senate has homecoming T-shirts they will be offering to clubs to sell. If we sell these shirts the club keeps 50% of the money and the other 50% goes to the senate to pay for the shirts. If you are interested please let us know at the next meeting.

-The radio station KEDP is having a Beetles celebration September 25, 2009 and has asked us to participate. This is a great opportunity for a fundraiser. We can sell popcorn, drinks or something else. Please think of some ideas and I will be letting Donna know we are participating. Also be advised this event is during homecoming week.

- We will be having a welcome back pot luck at Mary's house. The event will take place on Saturday Sept. 12, 2009 at 6pm. We will be making a list at the meeting on Friday of the dish you choose to bring to the party.

- I will be passing the blogspot over to Cabrini next week. Good luck and have fun with it Cabrini!


- The clubs goal is to be club of the year! We were second place a few semesters ago and hope we can pass that record and get first place this year! Let's all work together and have some fun!
